Kirton in Lindsey - Where to go and how to get there

Kirton in Lindsey market square

Kirton in Lindsey railway station lies at the foot of the hill upon which this small market town sits. North Lincolnshire Council's Just Go demand responsive bus will take visitors to the town centre and to Mount Pleasant windmill.  Trains  operating between Sheffield and Cleethorpes call at the station on Saturdays only. Monday to Friday the town can be reach by bus 103  from Scunthorpe or Lincoln.

Market Place

The market place is a triangle with the Victorian town hall dominating. A hand pump remains in the centre of the square. In the south west corner is Cobb Hall and early 19th century example of an unusual market place encroachment.

From the Market Place this small town spreads out over the hillside in a picturesque honeycomb of narrow criss-crossing streets.

Mount Pleasant Windmill

Half a mile north from the market place is Mount Pleasant windmill. This is a brick tower mill built in 1875. It has a cap and gear but no sails. They were lost in a storm in November 2015. However organic flour is still ground there using an electric motor and the tea room sells both flour and bakery products.
